At a certain point, we had become too big to continue managing vacations in many different places: excel files, emails, or on paper. In fact, each department had its ways, so everyone did it a little differently.
We wanted to change that and that's why we chose Time off module. When Calamari introduced a new Time & Attendance module, we found that having all the data on attendance and absences in one place would be even better, so we implemented it as well.
I didn't check other solutions because after Calamari seemed adequate. There was no point in looking further.
The features we like the most are logging in via Google or submitting vacations via Slack. Slack is the most convenient for our employees. Everyone logs in daily anyway, so they can occasionally register their presence using a command.
What's also nice are the permission levels and approval processes—you can oversee within the company who has access to what and who approves individual leaves. We also like the fact that the Calamari team listens to us, and they implement many of the things we suggested to them, which makes it easier for us to organize our work.
Thanks to Calamari, we have order and data consistency in all departments—everything is in one place. What's more, working from home was really unofficial before that—it only officially appeared with Calamari.
Besides, thanks to the shared calendar and integrations, every employee knows well when other people are at work when they are working remotely, when they are on vacation, or at lunch, which is very cool. Previously, there were situations where people in one department didn't know what was going on with people in another department. We have a large office, and you only sometimes see everyone in person. Calamari has solved these problems, so overall, we are delighted, and everyone praises them.
We now spend less time dealing with paperwork and accounting for everything, which saves a lot of time. Productivity has certainly increased as well. With greater transparency, it's easier for employees to schedule meetings and work.
